Belgrave Crescent

At Belgrave Crescent, we undertook the restoration of an old villa. It has a lot of fine feature work, particularly wrought ironwork and window slashings with some stained-glass window features.
The project involved giving the property a good sand all over and some minor building work before beginning on the paintwork. We always believe in doing a good job around preparation first to ensure an excellent paint finish.
There are a few different colours used across the property and if you take a close look, you’ll notice the downpipe, for example, is painted in three different colours to match in the with the building. We think it’s these sorts of little details that you don’t consider that really make the difference when it comes to the finished project.
We used a high gloss enamel paint on the door which has resulted in a beautiful finish and makes a great first impression. That is classic and long wearing.

'We chose Sims & Blue to repaint our house as they were competitive and had a good reputation. This was the first time we’ve used them, and we’ve been impressed. All the team showed a great work ethic – they always started early and put in full days.
I work a lot from home and so had the opportunity to see the whole process, and they were very accommodating and cordial with what they were doing and how they went about it. I could see the team was very diligent.
They have a traditional operation with traditional values – they’re easy to deal with, very personable, and above all, they work hard. Nothing seems to be a problem, that’s the way they operate.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, in fact, I’ve already referred other people to them, and they’ve more than happily used them. If you’re considering a painter in Dunedin, I’d happily recommend Sims & Blue.'
